1877 double rate cover folded at left edge from Lima to Madrid, Spain with 1866 20c Llamita tied by cds (27 Jul) plus GB 2 x ½ d, 2 x 3d, 2 x 4d and 2 x 1/- tied by oval "C38" cancels with CALLAO cds on the reverse. London PAID transit cds (29 Aug). Unusual franking. BPA certificate

URUGUAY

1928 flight by the Italian aviators, Martinez de Pinillas and Castro Zegana from Montevideo (30 Dec) to Rio de Janeiro with added Brazilian stamp cancelled on arrival (3 Jan). This was part of a planned flight which started in Lima, Peru destined for New York via the east coast of South America. The plane crashed at Para in Brazil and the attempt was abandoned. Pilot signed by "de Pinillas". Ciardi states just 4 covers flown from Montevideo
